Personal Protective Equipment Production

PPE Production

The Rice Center for Engineering Leadership (RCEL) is leading an effort involving the Moody Center and Rice engineers to understand how rapid manufacturing, creative sourcing, and decontamination procedures can help meet the personal and protective equipment (PPE) needs of healthcare workers. In particular, we are constructing a manufacturing supply chain for face shields that includes inputs of 3D printing and other advanced manufacturing tools from Rice labs and local partners. Rice scientists and engineers across the departments have also been sourcing gowns and decontaminating N95 masks.
